God is Just, The Bible is Moral…??

Written by trevornicholls

“GOD” is one of the most subjective topics and means something differed to every individual, so to clarify, in this post, I am only referring to “GOD” in the traditional sense as it pertains to the bibles of the Judaeo-Christian faith and its derivatives. This includes all branches of Christianity, Catholicism and Jewish religions as told by the scripture.

In todays society, the majority of the worlds religious populations claim to be followers of Judeo-Christian based faiths, but although they claim to be followers of the religion, vary few actually adhere to the majority of its teachings. To many, its simply a pick and choose game of what to believe, and what to ignore. Although its clear this occurs, I believe the problem is actually a lot simpler then that… People simply just don’t have a fucking clue whats actually written!

Churches and preachers, discuss in length the few “seemingly” positive aspects and ignore the topics people would object to, or cause them to question the morality of the religion. People are told that everything that is good, is god and everything that is bad is the devil. This is a simple enough concept and allows people to simply assess good and evil as they wish without needing to know the facts. However if people actually took the time to read the bible, New & Old and knew what was actually written I feel like people may think twice on the morality of their faith.

In Deuteronomy 22:20-21 we are instructed to stone women who are not virgins on their wedding night. In Numbers 15:32-36 and elsewhere, we learn that we are supposed to stone people to death if they work on the Sabbath. In Thessalonians 2:11 and Ezekiel 14:9 , we find that God is in the habit of deceiving people. In 1 Samuel 15:2-3 God orders the slaughter of infants. In Leviticus 25:46 , God says it is perfectly fine to own slaves. In Exodus 12:29 God kills every first-born child in Egypt. In Deuteronomy 21:18-21 we are instructed to stone our disobedient children to death. In Deuteronomy 22: 22-24 we find that if a woman is raped in the city and doesn’t cry out loud enough, the men of the city must stone her to death. Crudest of all, multiple times in the Old Testament, including Jeremiah 19:9, God threatens to make people eat their own children. In 2 Samuel 24:1,10,15- he orders David to take a census, then kills seventy thousand people because David took the census. God sends two bears to kill 42 children because they called the prophet Elisha a bald head in 2 Kings 2:23-24. In Numbers 21:2-3, Joshua 1-12, and elsewhere, God commands genocide; the complete and utter annihilation of other nations. In Deuteronomy 20:16 he even goes so far as to command his people to “not leave alive anything that breathes”. In Exodus 21:7 God gives us instructions on how to sell our daughters into slavery.

God is a criminal with a rap sheet that makes Adolf Hitler seem like a boy scout. But the Old Testament doesn’t count anymore, and The New Testament makes up for the atrociousness we find in the Old..right? First of all, it should be clear that Jesus affirms the Old Testament law unequivocally in Matthew 5:17-20. Then in Matthew 15:4-7 and Mark 7:9-10 tells us to kill our disobedient children. This is right before Jesus shares his vision on family values with us and tells us that in order to be his disciple one must hate their parents, siblings, wives, and children in Luke 14:26. However, this is right before Jesus shares his message about loving thy neighbor in Luke 19:27 when he tells us: “But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me”. Jesus even punishes a fig tree because it contained no fruit when he was hungry in Mark 11:12-14, 20-24 and Matthew 21:18-22. There is something wrong when a man is punishing a tree for not bearing fruit, even though it wasn’t the season for the tree to bear fruit. “This is like smashing the tv on friday because the sunday game isn’t on”

The fact that people Justify and rationalize this barbarism is detestable. If you find yourself saying shit like “His ways are higher than ours”, you have refused to think and reason honestly. I am tired of hearing perfectly decent and rational human beings rationalize child murder because of this book. Use your mind, and stop thinking that an ancient magical book that contains a talking snake and a talking donkey is the key to your happiness.
